As Director of Engineering, you will report to the General Manager & lead all engineering, maintenance, and technical operations across voco Dubai Monaco (operational) and voco Dubai Nice (pre-opening), located on The Heart of Europe islands. This is a senior leadership role within a premiumisland resort environment, requiring hands-on operational expertise, strong project and pre-opening experience, and the ability to manage complex infrastructure in a remote, multi-site setting.

You will ensure the safety, functionality, sustainability, and visual excellence of both resorts, while motivating and developing a high-performing engineering team in line with IHGs True Hospitality culture.

• Direct and manage daily engineering and maintenance operations across multiple island properties

• Plan, assign, and prioritise work to ensure optimal coverage and response at all times

• Lead, coach, and develop the engineering team; set clear performance and development goals

• Build a strong safety-first and compliance-driven culture

• Promote teamwork and collaboration through daily coordination with all department heads

• Ensure all facilities, plant rooms, utilities, and back-of-house areas are fully operational and guest-ready

• Implement preventive maintenance programs to maintain uninterrupted guest comfort

• Support guest needs promptly and professionally, ensuring minimal service disruption

• Oversee critical island-specific systems such as utilities, water treatment, power, marine interfaces, and logistics coordination

• Lead engineering pre-opening activities for voco Nice, including:

  • Snagging, commissioning, and handover from contractors

  • FF&E installation, testing, and system integration

  • SOP development, asset registers, and maintenance planning

  • Recruitment, training, and mobilisation of the engineering team

• Coordinate closely with owners, project managers, consultants, and IHG technical services

• Oversee all physical assets, maintenance contracts, and capital planning

• Manage budgets, inventory, procurement, and contractor performance

• Drive sustainability, energy efficiency, and green initiatives in line with IHG standards

• Ensure full compliance with local regulations, life safety systems, and brand audits

• May oversee hotel security and risk mitigation related to infrastructure and island operations

This is the most senior Engineering role within a luxury island resort cluster, involving:

• Multiple properties and facilities

• High-end outlets, leisure facilities, and VIP guests

• A large engineering team, supervisors, and external contractors

• Operational and pre-opening responsibilities within a complex island environment

• Proven Director of Engineering experienceof at least 3 years in premium &/luxury resorts or large hotels

• GCC & UAE Experience is mandatory

• Strong island or remote-location resort experience is essential

• Demonstrated pre-opening and project management experience

• Solid expertise across:

  • Electrical, Mechanical, Plumbing (MEP)

  • HVAC & refrigeration

  • Civil, carpentry, and general building maintenance

• Ability to manage complex infrastructure, utilities, and logistics challenges
